This Makita BTP140 contains a 4-pole motor packing up to 1,240 in. lbs. of maximum torque. Considering the compact size that this drill is, that’s a large amount of power. You are also receiving 16 distinct clutch selections and 2 distinct speed options (0-700 RPM and 0-2,300 RPM)
If you want to drill into masonry or concrete, you’ll be getting a powerful 0-27,600 BPM (blows per minute). When you have to do a simple fastening task, you can simply shift to the impact mode that delivers 0-3,200 impacts per minute (IPM).
Similar to practically all the new Makita tools, the Makita BTP140 comes equipped with the innovative new LXT Lithium-Ion technology. These 18-Volt batteries weigh less, run for a longer period of time, and charge faster than the typical batteries you find in many different drills. There is also a built-in shock absorber to prevent the battery from being damaged
The Optimum Charger makes it possible for a memory chip in the battery to communicate with a CPU chip located in the charger to promise the most effective charge possible and make the batteries have a longer life. Usually, these innovative Li-Ion batteries last 2.5x longer than a basic battery.
You’d believe that due to the intense power and features the Makita BTP140 have to offer, it’d be a bulky drill. Shockingly, however, it is extremely compact and has a weight of only 3.9 pounds and is just 7-3/8 inches in length. Comfort is extremely important while you are drilling, and the ergonomic design with the BTP140 allow it to sit rather comfortably in the fingers and reduce the opportunity for soreness.
Yet another two extremely unique characteristics of the drill are the built-in LED light and the phosphorescent bumper ring. The light lets you see in crowded, dark areas, and the bumper ring glows in the dark so that you won’t be forced to be concerned about misplacing the drill because you cannot see it.
As you can notice, the Makita BTP140 is seriously an awesome tool to work with. It’s 4 tools rolled into 1 so that you don’t have to lug so many tools around while you are working, it packs a lot of power yet is still small in size, and the Lithium-Ion technology of the batteries is unmatched by any other drills available.
